Well it has definately been a while since I blogged last. This summer has blown by, it's crazy that we're already approaching the end of July. A lot of things have happened in the last two months though; Alex and I did in fact purchase a new television, we also started working for Grant Mackay Demolition in Salt Lake, and we found out that we are moving to Texas the first of August.
Alex had the coolest opportunity to start working with this company, he was first hired on to do demolition work in the Salt Lake Temple. Every July, the temple closes for two weeks for its annual cleaning. During this time, five rooms were renovated and made to accomidate better air contitioning. All of the people working there were required to have temple recommends, and to wear all white. It was very difficult work, too. They had to change many things with the granite and plaster that the pioneers built in order to put in the air condtioning. He was able to walk throughout the temple on his brakes though and see many things that most people never see. On one part of the job, they had to go up into the atic of the temple, he said that the steel rods up there were the very first ones imported from New York in the early years. They had names of about thirty of the pioneers etched into them.
I started helping in the office at Grant Mackay a few weeks ago. Its awesome how it all worked out, but the secretary who normaly works in Texas was fired from the job the same time that I started in Salt Lake. When this happened, the owner of the company brought up the idea of Alex and I moving to Texas to take over her position, and for Alex to help the mechanic down there. It was a pretty big promotion for both of us, so we decided to take it. The crazy thing about it though is that we found out on Thursday and we needed to be moved and already working in Texas two weeks from that day.
We are still in the process of packing, we're driving down next Thursday. We found a way awesome apartment in Humble, TX that is close to our new office. I think for the most part, besides being so far away from family and friends, we are really excited to move!

hiS HEarT PuMPs DIESEL
Since moving into our apartment, every single day has been like a spontaneous routine. We have fun, but sometimes I think it's too much for the two of us. We're always going. Alex - after getting his CDL - started driving for his dads company; he loves doing it because he gets to help his dad out but the extremely early mornings are starting to wear him out. This morning Sunshine was up at three o'clock all ready to go to work! (He's asleep on our futon right now- 8pm)
So to keep ourselves busy when we're both NOT at work has been more difficult than we thought it would be. Our little apartment is starting to look great but there are a few things that we really need to focus on getting in order to save our sanity.
1. Internet. To be honest, we LOVE the people in our complex. Given, we've never really met any of them, but there "unlocked" internet works great! Our Ipods, laptops and even the giant computer connects perfectly. We both know that we can't rely on that internet source forever though... so we're searching for an affordable internet company right now.
2. Television. Alex was a great example of the scout motto to "be prepared" when we moved out on our own. He brought along his 15.. maybe 20 inch TV and his PS2. After trying to hook up everything today, we came to a final conclusion that we REALLY need to invest in a bit larger TV. Hey, some things are just more important to some people.
3. Games? We really need to find something constructive to do when we have free time - something besides throwing in a movie or Alex's Latest: Balancing on Bowling Balls! (which really is harder than it looks)
4. Performance parts. (for Alex) Since the day that I met that boy, he has been the biggest motor-head! I remember when we were 15, he completely took apart the engine of a K10 big block and put it all back together with better parts as a "summer project" to keep him busy. His passion for mechanics has slightly rubbed off on me. But, as part of marrying him, I kind of expected that. We cannot even drive ten minutes anywhere without some comment about the truck or car next to us. But I can't complain, his incredible mechanic skills have saved us SO MUCH MONEY over the last four years!! So.. back to my list... getting performance parts for Alex's truck here and there seriously is an essential part to not only our sanity, but a happy wonderful marriage. :)

veGAs BAbY!
When we were dress shopping for the wedding, we went to this place called The Gallery for all of our tuxes, bridesmaids and my dress. We ended up getting so many things there that they gave us this "dream vacation" thing where they paid for our honeymoon! So we decided to stay in Vegas - because Alex couldn't remember the last time he had been there. We're both under twenty-one.. so we couldn't really do anything.. but we still had a lot of fun walking up and down the strip! We saw a lot of interesting people! The funniest one was this big guy dressed up in all of these gangster clothes - with his worn out running shoes on. Every single day we could count on him sitting in the same place, with the same little amp/microphone hookups, rapping to the same beat. His favorite time filler was to repeat, "Yes sir, yes ma'am, I put that peanut butter with that jam." We thought it was the funniest thing ever because he'd keep saying it and bouncing his fake dreadlocks as people walked past.
GeTtiNG reADy to MoVE
About two weeks ago, Alex and I went "apartment searching" and we found one in Roy that we really liked! We decided to make it final, so this Friday, April 1, we are moving in. It's awesome how everything is working out perfectly. When we got back from Vegas for our honeymoon, we moved strait into the house of a retired couple who are taking their yearly two month vacation. Their children live all over the country so they are traveling everywhere to visit them. A week before we were married, they asked Alex and I if we would mind "house sitting" for them until they got back. It worked out great because they left for their trip the exact time that we returned from Vegas! They still have about three weeks left until they're coming home, but we decided to get our apartment before then. Alex has been so excited to move, he insisted that we packed everything that we could last week! So most of our packing is done thanks to him. :)
